Baptism is an outward expression of unity with Jesus Christ in both his death and resurrection. It is a public proclamation of your decision to believe in Christ and follow him wholeheartedly. If you repent of your sins, and confess and believe Jesus is Lord, baptism is a necessary next step in your faith journey!

In fact, baptism is a command from God for all who believe in him, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV

Baptism consists of being fully immersed in water in the name of Jesus Christ. Although the book of Matthew speaks of baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, several accounts in Acts reference baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, including Acts 2:38, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

At Destiny Christian Center International, biblical accuracy is our aim. Given that, we baptize in the name of Jesus Christ to follow the most recent biblical accounts of baptism as closely as possible.

We understand that for some, entering and exiting a baptismal pool for immersion may be physically impossible. Accommodations can be made to honor the meaning of baptism, while also considering individual conditions.

Symbolism & Expression of Faith

Baptism is symbolic of death to sin, and in-turn being made alive in Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul explains this clearly in Romans, “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4 NKJV
